Holidays in GLPI: generate them for any country and link them to calendars at once

Feriados Sync generates the holidays of more than 200 countries, with regions, and links them in bulk to GLPI calendars, so SLAs count the right deadlines. Free for GLPI 10 and 11.

A holiday missing from the calendar turns into an SLA breach that never happened. – Feriados Sync, a new free NexTool module, generates the holidays of any country and links them to your GLPI calendars in one go.

The problem

GLPI skips holidays when calculating deadlines, but only the holidays that are registered and linked to the calendar. In the native form, each holiday is typed by hand, with start and end dates, and then linked to one calendar at a time, in that calendar's tab.

With three calendars and five years ahead, that adds up to hundreds of clicks. Movable holidays such as Good Friday or Easter Monday change date every year: forget one and the SLA counts as a business day a day nobody worked. For companies operating in more than one country, the work multiplies.

How Feriados Sync works

The module adds a Holiday generator tab to GLPI and four mass actions to the native Holidays and Calendars lists.

  • Holidays of more than 200 countries – choose the country, the region (state or province, when there is one), the years and the holiday types: public, bank, school, optional. The module loads the list, with each holiday's official name in the country's language.
  • Holiday generator tab of Feriados Sync in GLPI, with Germany and the Bavaria region selected and the 2027 and 2028 holiday list loaded, showing type, national or regional scope and dates
The selection list: national holidays plus Bavaria's regional ones, with each year's dates
  • Preview before saving – the preview shows what will be created, what was already generated and what overlaps a holiday that already exists. Nothing is duplicated, even if you run the generator again.
  • Generator preview with Brazil's 2027 holidays: most flagged as overlapping an existing holiday and Easter Sunday marked to be created
The preview points out what already exists in GLPI and what will be created
  • Bulk linking – generate them already linked to the chosen calendars, or use the mass actions: in the Holidays list, link to or unlink from calendars; in the Calendars list, add or remove holidays.
  • GLPI mass action window with the Link to calendars action and the Comercial 8x5 calendar selected
Several holidays to several calendars with a single action
  • Several countries in the same GLPI – a holiday from another country on the same date does not block generation: each calendar gets its own country's holidays.
  • GLPI permissions respected – generating requires the right to create holidays, and linking requires the right to edit the calendar. The module never grants more access than the profile already has.

Where the holidays come from

The data comes from Nager.Date, a free public holiday service, and is stored inside GLPI. The GLPI server needs internet access, and the proxy configured in GLPI is respected. If the service does not respond, the module uses the last stored data. For Brazil, it also calculates the national holidays and optional days on its own, without internet.

How to enable it

  1. Have the NexTool plugin installed on your GLPI 10 or 11
  2. Open NexTool and, in the module list, install and enable Feriados Sync
  3. In Administration > Profiles, give the profiles that will use it the Feriados Sync permissions (view and use the generator, link holidays)
  4. Open the Holiday generator tab, choose the country and years, and generate

Who it is for

Teams that measure SLAs in GLPI, especially with more than one calendar (business hours, 24x7, per branch) or operations in more than one country. It also helps anyone who has to renew every calendar's holidays at the turn of the year.

Compatibility

  • GLPI: 10.0+ and 11.0+
  • Plan: Free
  • Plugin: NexTool 6.9.1+

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The module is free on every NexTool plan and works on GLPI 10 and GLPI 11.

From Nager.Date, a public service with the holidays of more than 200 countries. The data is cached inside GLPI and, if the service does not respond, the module uses the last stored data.

Partly. The GLPI server needs to reach the holiday service at least once per country and year (the proxy configured in GLPI is respected). Without access, the module uses the data already stored and, for Brazil, calculates the national holidays and optional days on its own.

It includes the regional holidays the service publishes, such as those of Germany's 16 states. Brazilian state coverage is still small and there are no municipal holidays: those are still registered in GLPI and can be linked to calendars in bulk by the module.

No. The module skips what it already generated and anything that overlaps an existing holiday from the same country. The preview shows each case before saving.

Yes. A holiday from another country on the same date does not block generation, and each calendar gets its own country's holidays.

Yes, once they are linked to the calendar used by the SLA. GLPI skips that calendar's holidays when calculating deadlines.
