Print Counters
Print cost and page allowance calculated inside GLPI
GLPI already collects each printer's page counter through inventory, but it has no idea what that costs. Print Counters turns those readings into cost per page, applies each contract's allowance and overage, and closes the monthly period with the amount to bill.
Features
The price per page follows a cascade from printer to model to entity, with validity dates. A contract groups printers and sets the allowance, overage, fixed fee and closing day, and a closed period becomes a snapshot that never changes afterwards, even after a price adjustment.
The module relies on GLPI's native inventory instead of polling SNMP on its own. A printer that is not being inventoried shows as having no reading, never as if it printed zero pages, and there are alerts for low toner, stalled counters and printing spikes.
How it works
Set up the costs
Define the price per page by entity, model or printer. Without a cost rule, billing comes out as zero: the module never makes up a price.
Create the contracts
Enter the allowance, overage, fixed fee and closing day, and link the printers that belong to each contract.
Track and close
The module consolidates the inventory readings throughout the month and closes the period on the agreed day. Before that, you can reconsolidate or close it by hand.

Frequently asked questions
Is Print Counters free?
Yes. The module is free on every NexTool plan and works on GLPI 10, GLPI 11 and GLPI 12.
Does the module poll counters over SNMP?
No. It uses the readings that GLPI's native inventory already stores, coming from the GLPI Agent. The printers therefore need to be inventoried.
What if a printer stops sending readings?
It shows as having no reading in the period, not as if it printed zero pages. An alert fires after the configured number of days without a reading.
Does a price adjustment change periods that are already closed?
No. At closing, the allowance and amounts are copied from the contract, and a closed period is never reprocessed.
